VB Script Question

I have spent most of the morning looking through the Developer�s Reference Manual and the Programming Quicksheets; however, I still have a few questions.

I am using MathCAD Controls and Scriptable Objects (ListBox and ComboBox respectively) for a pipeline calculation and I am having issues resolving a particular problem. As I mentioned previously, I am experienced with Visual Basic in the excel environment and I have gone through the Quicksheets and other help option to further understand how Visual Basic is used in the Script Editor. I understand the structure of the script and the order of the event handlers but I do not know how to properly manipulate inputs and outputs. I know how arrays are coded in visual basic so the syntax is not an issue, rather, I struggle interacting with the MathCAD environment.

How do I modify the
�Outputs(0).Value=ListBox.CurSel + 1�
in the Exec handle in the ListBox script editor to return the value of the numeric selection rather than the number of the line?

How do I apply this to a ComboBox? I.E. how do I simply return the value of the selection from the drop-down menu?

Also, how can I input values from a matrix defined in the same worksheet to the values in the ComboBox drop down?

I have accessed MathCAD�s Automation interface but I seem to be going in circles. Once I understand how to read Inputs from the worksheet and display outputs in both ListBoxes and ComboBoxes I know I can progress to more complex problems with my knowledge of VB.

Mouse Wheel Causes Instability

I have a wireless mouse with the center wheel button is set to autoscroll. When I turn the wheel, the Mathcad template continuously scrolls up and down, similar to playing Ping, and there is no stopping the scrolling. This results in the Mathcad software becoming unstable and I have to exit Mathcad and restart the software, losing all changes to the document.

There is no manual scroll setting for this mouse. Is there a way to stop the autoscroll function of the mouse?

typesetting equations

Is their a way to make MathCAD equations look like the way they do in textbooks? Formulas and equations are normally typeset in italics and basically look totally different to MathCAD worksheets. Maple and Mathematica can do this so I'd like to know how to do it in MathCAD.

You have got to be kidding!  This thing is supposed to replace the collaboratory?

 

For starters, how does one fine new (unread) messages?  It seems one needs to click on all of the individual areas, with no prior indication as to which might contain new information.  And I see nothing indicating anything keeping track of what has been read or not.

 

Plus the pages are extremely busy, with all kinds of extraneous nonsense.  Not a business like, nor useful structure.

 

I don't think this is going to work.

Mathcad 14 List Box Output

Hello all,

 

I am relatively new to Mathcad 14. The problem I am having is with List Boxes.

 

In the attached document, you can see two list boxes. The second reads the output from the first and displays a different result based on what is read in from the first list box. The problem is that the outputs in list box 2 accumulate, as opposed to being replaced. I have tried solving this problem using the ResetContent function, but then I was unable to make the selection (it would not stay highlighted).

 

I would greatly appreciate any help,

Resize issue

Hi, I have AutoCAD drawings embedded in my Mathcad worksheets. Whenever, I edit and update the drawing (by double clicking on the embedded drawing) Mathcad expands it greatly, almost to the entire page.

Is there way to lock size of the Embedded AutoCAD object?

Also, I am wondering is the issue with Mathcad or I have to set some option in AutoCAD itself.

Any thoughts?

Given/Solve error - result returned too large to display

I am working with some students to try and solve a system of three equations using a Give/Solve block. Mathcad 14 is solving, but we are getting an error that says, "The symbolic result returned is too large to display, but it can be used in subsequent calculations if assigned to a function or variable."

 

Can someone help us out?

Strange Problem with MathCAD 15 Installation

I was on an extended trip to Moscow recently and found I needed a copy of MathCAD for my notebook (I had it installed on my desktop in my office but did not anticipate needing it on my notebook as well).  Therefore, I bought a copy from a computer store in Moscow, the language was Russian/English and installed it on my laptop.  Everything installed fine and when I open MathCAD normally bu clicking on the MathCAD icon, again everything is fine.  However, if I double click on a MathCAD calculation, it opens in MathCAD, as you'd expect, but all of the menus are in Russian.  If I then go to Tools => Properties => Language, English is selected as the language, however, it's in Russian.  That is, "American English" is spelled out using Cyrillic letters spelling "American English" in Russian.  I'm almost thinking this is a bug.  Has anyone else seen this?  Does anyone know if there is a fix?

rendering xmcd file without Mathcad

Hi,

is it possible to render a xmcd file readable without using mathcad? The intention is to use a requirements management system to store the source files and make them available for inspection and to be able to export the calculations into word later on. I know i could put the source and a pdf in there together, but that would be inconvenient insofar as it could lead to different versions of both files being stored.

So, is there a possibility to generate a human readable version from a xmcd file without using mathcad? If not is it possible to use mathcad in commandline mode to generate for example the html version?

Deleting Rows from Data Tables

I have created a Mathcad 14 sheet with a data table that I use to provide input variables. The number of rows of data in that data table vary from problem to problem, so I need to be able to increase or decrease the number of rows for each new site. Increasing the number of rows is easy, but I can't seem to decrease the number of rows (unless I delete the whole table and re-insert a new table). Is there a solution to this?

Matrix to vector (M2V)

Could someone help me to with drafting a simple short function that would be able to transform a large matrix into a vector - say M2V function.

 

I need one M2V function for transforming matrix rows (row by row) into a vector and other M2V for transforming matrix columns (column by column) into a vector.

 

I am new to Mathcad programming. At the moment my function gives me only the last row (or column). I belive that this is not a difficult task for a seasoned Mathcad user, Many thanks for your support mates.

Mathcad Prime

Will the new Mathcad Prime coming in December be able to display results on the worksheet with comma delimiters? In other words, can the result one million be displayed as 1,000,000 instead of 1000000 as it is in previous versions of Mathcad?

File saved yesterday. Opened today and only 5 of approximately 25 sheets remain

I have been building a worksheet for weeks now. I opened my document today and only 5 of my 27 pages remain. What does remain has to have the "F9" button pressed to calculate. It doesn't normally require that. It opens with everything calculated typically. I was able to open a previous version of the document that was from 4 days ago, but I have lost 2 pages of calculations unless I am able to recover the lost pages somehow. I saved the document and it shows to have saved yesterday right before I shut my computer down for the night. Has anyone ever had this problem before? Is there a solution?

2D Scatter Plot:

Y-axis in reverse order does not show data points

As an engineer, I usually come across plots with depth in the Y-axis, thus, I plot it in reverse order. MathCAD 14 does this with line-plots, no problem. However, when I change the trace display to a symbol (with or without the line), the data points do not show. In earlier versions of MathCAD this was never an issue. Though this is not a major but, I think it's still worth fixing.

MCAD 4.5 Anyone?

I have several very old drawing files, which were readable in Mathcad 4.5 (probably, since they are not readable in v5.0). I have long since upgraded, one version after another, and dumped all my old version install floppies, although I still have v5.0, for what it's worth. The Mathcad files in which these drawing images were loaded no longer display the images in any version from v5.0 on, of course. The drawing files are .dwg files, but Autocad products no longer read them either.

 

I had a fellow look at the image files who is familiar with lots of old formats. He said they must be old GenericCad files, from before Generic was bought by Autocad. The early dwg's were not the same as what the standard format eventually became. The drawing files are loaded into the Mathcad files by marking the beginning and ending of the file name by "?". As I recall the Mathcad version that read them was probably the first version of Mathcad that was able to read image or drawing files. Every Mathcad version since then has not been able to read these particular files.

 

I have acquired version 6.0 of GenericCad. It says the files have errors in them. Haven't been able to locate any older versions.

 

Question is, do any of you guys have install images of Mathcad 4.5 that I could link to, or you could email to me? I would very much appreciate it if so.
