I'm officially done with Mathcad. I purchased a new laptop and was not able to install Mathcad 14 due to Activation issues. I had Mathcad installed on my old laptop (and my current workstation), and thus I maxed out the two licenses available.
I did see Mona's post on the topic at http://collab.mathsoft.com/read?97922,20
Mona didn't bother to say how to contact PTC Licensing. The phone number is 877-275-4782.
I've used numerous products that require activation (Matlab and Acrobat come to mind, as I just installed them as well). I've never had to literally call somebody up and wait to be able to use a piece of software.
A surly gentleman answered the phone and abruptly asked for some information, including my "volume serial number". After explaining I have no idea what he's talking about, he rudely walked me through the process of checking this.
Supposedly I will receive an email in the near future with a new license code to use. It will be my last.
Can anyone explain why a person needs to be in the loop for this process? Having to call somebody and ask for permission to use a product for which I've already paid is too much. I will no longer continue to support a product with such onerous licensing restrictions.
Regards,
Eric
